The Hawk Inducted into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame
Ronnie Hawkins was honored Saturday, November 15, 2008 with induction
into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame as the recipient of the
prestigious Governor’s Award; presented personally to Ronnie by Arkansas
Governor, Mike Beebe.
Ronnie joins other famous Arkansan stars such as Johnny Cash, John
Grisham, Mary Steenburgen, Billy Bob Thornton and Al Green. The Class
of 2008 included actress Tess Harper, famed trumpet player Wayne Jackson,
country singer Joe Nichols, country performers The Wilburn Brothers,
blues legend Sonny Boy Williamson, and media executive Ed Wilson.
Ronnie was singled out for his outstanding achievements and
contributions in the entertainment field.
An exhibit honoring Ronnie and commemorating his work as a permanent
display is currently under development at the Arkansas Entertainers Hall
of Fame located in Pine Bluff, AR.
